Top Books of 2016

I’ve been thinking long and hard about this now and really struggling to narrow the list down. I’ve read 79 books this year and not one of them has been bad, all have been really good in fact so this makes this so hard to do. Note I haven’t put top 10 or top 15 as my title, the reason is I’m going to just list the ones that stand out in my mind and if that’s  5 or 20 then so be it. There aren’t any rules are there 😉

So here we go and in no particular order……..

1,  The CXVI Trilogy by Angie Smith.

 The Beginning of the End #1  

           

 Secrets Broken #2  

          

 Desperate Measures #3                     

         

Ok, I know I’m cheating having 3 but I couldn’t just pick one out of this fabulous trilogy, they were all fantastic and after reading the first I couldn’t wait to get stuck right into the next.

2, The Theseus Paradox by David Vidicette AKA the legs 😉

The Theseus Paradox is a book that will stay with me for a long time (I also have wee crush on the main character Jake shhh) and I still have so many questions about this book. I also have to add that I am super excited for the next book, The Detriment which will be out soon. I seriously can’t wait.

3, Bloq by Alan Jones.

This is another book that will stay with me for a long time, the main character Bill is a man I often think about. I pictured him in mind as I was reading as man you often see when out and about, nothing out of the ordinary, just a simple dad.

4, Valentina by S.E, Lynes.

I seriously can’t wait to see what Susie comes up with next. As a debut novel Valentina was just an absolutely cracking read.

5, I see You by Clare Mackintosh

I received this book through Netgalley and realised afterwards that I had I Let You Go already on my kindle. I absolutely loved both books although I’ve realised while writing this that I never left a review for I let You Go although I’m sure I did write one somewhere.

6, A Boy Made of Blocks Keith Stuart.

 A Boy Made of blocks is a book that will stay in my heart forever.

7, Broken by Angela Chrysler.

This is a book that just had me in pieces. Based on the true event from Angela’s past it was one of the hardest reviews I have ever written. I seriously did not do this book justice.

8, Dark Water by Sara Bailey.

Another debut novel that totally drew me in. I’m really looking forward to more from this author as well.

9, No Idea by Si Page

This ticked all the boxes, a book that had humour, suspense, thrills, romance and so much more. A really enjoyable read.

So I think that’s it, all these books are books that stand out to me. Looking through my reviews I’ve had quite a few 5 star reads and probably after publishing this more will pop in to my wee brain.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the authors I’ve read in 2016, it’s been an incredible year for books and I feel totally privileged to have been given the chance to read some really outstanding books. Here’s to 2017, ching ching.
