My Thoughts – First off I would like to say a huge thank you to TBConFB and S.E. Lynes for giving me the opportunity to read and review Valentina.

Having packed up and moved with Mikey and her baby daughter Isla to a beautiful dream cottage, Shona is left feeling isolated in rural Aberdeenshire when Mikey’s work takes him away to the rigs for two weeks out of four. Feeling like she is going insane Shona takes herself off to the local town where she meets Valentina, an energetic, vibrant and spirited lady who has a son about the same age as Isla and seems to be Shona’s saviour.

I loved how this book is written, it comes in three parts and although I had a fair idea of how the story was going to pan out,  I wasn’t prepared for just how the story went with it’s twists and turns, it was a book I just could not put down. I was totally drawn in and I loved Shona. I connected with her and loved her sense of humour and with only three characters I felt like I knew them all, a bit like I was part of the story.

I really don’t want to give too much away as this is a book I would like to highly recommend and want the reader to capture it the way I did. I was quite blown away as it’s not a fast paced book like some I’ve been reading lately but it’s quite powerful in the way I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I wasn’t reading. I was desperate to get back and find out what was happening and my emotions were all over the place as I read each page.

As a debut novel, S.E.Lynes has done a superb job of creating an unsettling psychological thriller that gets under your skin and I’m really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

My Rating 5/5
