My thoughts
Well I sat down the other night to read a couple of chapters before bed, it was very late. The next thing I knew it was 2am and I’d finished it. I don’t think I need to say anymore than that really.
Ok maybe I do 😂 So Ouija is a YA Horror but I can honestly say that it is suitable for the older generation too. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Six high school friends set off one night to an abandoned school with a ouija board in hand, not all of them are happy about what they are about to do and have reservations and this brought back memories of my time in high school. The peer pressure to go along with the gang, to not let the side down etc. Thankfully it never involved a ouija board.
You know that it’s a recipe for disaster from the get go but I honestly wasn’t prepared for what I was about to read. It was terrifyingly good and the author has managed to write a story that really got under my skin, the tension builds throughout and I’m sure I must have turned blue on many occasions from holding my breath.
I’m not going to go into the plot because I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s gripping from start to finish and I didn’t have clue how it was going to pan out.
With great characters and setting, the story just flows. As I said the tension just builds, it’s dark and scary and you would never believe this was a debut. I take my hat off to Zoé-Lee O’Farrell, this is an absolute cracker of a story and one I will definitely be recommending. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
