Children’s Book Review: Bertie at the Worldwide Games @WendyHJones @malcolmdown @lovebooksgroup @mdpublishing

I’m coming with my review a day late and sharing my review for Bertie at the Worldwide Games by Wendy H. Jones as I stupidly can’t read my own hand writing and thought my blog tour review was on the 25th.

About the book

Bertie the Buffalo is back for an exciting new adventure! A mysterious letter arrives inviting him to represent Scotland in the Worldwide Games. Bertie and his friends fly to Tokyo where they meet new and exotic animals and try to win first prize! Bertie is sad when he isn’t winning but finds out if he works together with his friends, he will be a winner in the end.

My thoughts

Bertie at the Worldwide Games has become a favourite bedtime story for my 3 year old Darcy. Since receiving the book I think we’ve read it every second night and each time we pick it up the smile that lights up Darcy’s face is priceless.

Bertie is invited to participate in the Worldwide Games and wants to do his country Scotland proud. He soon learns that different animals from other countries are faster than him but soon realises that with the help of his friends he can achieve anything.

I love the illustrations in this book, they’re so colourful and Darcy loved pointing the different animals out.

This book would be a fabulous addition in primary schools and libraries and is a book that I think will be read here many, many more times. It would also make a fantastic gift for any young child you may know.
