My thoughts

Well I have to say Blood, Metal, Bone was a real surprise. Going by the description of the book I had no idea that this story would include sci-fi and I’m glad because I probably wouldn’t have picked it up to be honest.

I’m not the biggest fan of sci-fi but I’m pleased to say that it worked really well in this story and although I did prefer reading the more fantasy side it was still gripping.

I loved the world building in Blood, Metal, Bone, it isn’t over powering but gives you enough to visualise. Whether I was with Senora riding through the desert on horseback wielding a sword or with Karr the smuggler somewhere up in space the images formed easily in my mind which I love.

We’re told the story of Senora and the story of Karr and as I was reading I wasn’t sure how they’d connect but they peiced together perfectly. I had real trouble putting this book down, some parts I could see coming, others had me stunned and I was swiping those pages desperate to see what was coming next.

I liked the characters in the book, you get to know the two main characters fairly well, they have a back story but some of the others were and still are a bit of mystery. At first I really wanted to know more about them but as the story unfolded it didn’t seem to matter as much as I was just so caught up in what was happening.

This is the first book I’ve read by Lindsay Cummings and I really like her writing style, it was easy to read even if it was in part a genre I’m not comfortable reading. Those parts didn’t feel like a struggle at all.

Blood, Metal, Bone is a fast paced, gripping story. It’s unique and one I will definitely recommend.
