I’m happy to be sharing my review for How to Build a Boyfriend from Scratch by Sarah Archer today as part of the blog tour. Many thanks to the publishers for the invite and a copy of the book.
About the book
Kelly, our main protagonist has a problem, her perfect sister is getting married and her family expect her to be there with a plus one. Kelly however doesn’t do dating well and as for online dating, well Kelly is actually quite scared of the whole process. So what is a girl supposed to do? Build a boyfriend maybe?
I couldn’t help feeling quite sorry for Kelly in the beginning, her family put a lot of pressure on her to have a plus one for the wedding, the photos have to look right and it wouldn’t look good for her to turn up by herself and I could feel her frustration towards them.
What followed though was a delightful read that really had me glued to the pages. Kelly works with robotics and to be perfectly honest the technical side of it all isn’t my cup of tea but it’s written wonderfully and doesn’t take away anything from what is essentially a love story.
It’s filled with humour and has characters that really come to life. It’s a story that draws you in and it’s definitely needed at the present time. I just found myself lost within the pages and I forgot what was happening around me. It’s definitely the medicine that’s needed right now.
So if you’re looking for a story that will make you smile then How to Build a Boyfriend from Scratch is the perfect read, it’s a wonderful light hearted rom-com that I’ll certainly be recommending.
