Today I’m bringing you my audio review of The Wives by Tarryn Fisher as part of the blog tour. Huge thanks to the publishers for the audio copy.
About the book
You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, you see your husband only one day a week. Thursday. But you don’t care, you love him that much. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself…
And then, one day it all changes.
You thought you were fine with this, with only having a fraction of a husband. But you can’t help yourself, you start to dig. Begin tracking them down, the other days… Who is Monday and why does she have bruises on her arms? Is she being abused? By who? Her husband? Your husband?
What else is he keeping from you?
And who is he, really?

My thoughts
It doesn’t matter how good a story is when listening to a book, you need to have a good narrator as well and Lauren Fortgang is just perfect for this story. I’m always quite anxious when starting a new audio book, I worry I’ll zone out or it won’t grab my attention but I didn’t need to worry with The Wives. It grabbed me and pulled me in and I was hooked.
Can you imagine having to share your husband? Only getting to see him on a certain day knowing that he’s off with his two other wives the rest of the week. Nope, well neither could I but that’s what Thursday has to do and in the beginning she seems quite happy with this arrangement.
Thursday doesn’t know the other two women that share her husband, only known as Monday and Tuesday, she gets snippets of information from her husband Seth but apart from that she has no idea who they could be. I honestly couldn’t comprehend being in that situation and I was intrigued to find out what would happen.
Now as I was getting through the story I really thought I had a good idea of where it was going, I was quite excited listening away to see if I was right but oh boy was I way off. This is such an unpredictable story, it really pulled me into a false sense of security and then it knocked me upside down. A couple of times I had to go back and listen again just to make sure I’d heard correctly.
I’m not going to spoil this story and give anything away. You need to go into this spoiler free and enjoy the surprises for yourself.
I’ll definitely be highly recommending The Wives, I really loved listening to it and the narrator was superb, I honestly felt like I was listening to Thursday telling me her story. So if you’re after an absorbing audio book that’s tense, gripping and full of twists and turns then The Wives is for you.
