2019, Blog Tour, Book review

Hunting Evil by Chris Carter @simonschusterUK @annecater #RandomThingsTours

Its Thursday and nearly the weekend and oh boy do have a book recommendation for you, Hunting Evil by Chris Carter is published today and is a corker and I’m sharing my review as part of the blog tour. Huge thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours for the opportunity and Simon & Schuster UK for the copy of the book.

About the book

The compulsive new novel from the author of the Sunday Times Number One bestseller The Caller and Gallery of the Dead.
AS ADDICTIVE AS A TV BOXSET!

‘Every story one day comes to an end.’
As roommates, they met for the first time in college. Two of the brightest minds ever to graduate from Stamford Psychology University.
As adversaries, they met again in Quantico, Virginia. Robert Hunter had become the head of the LAPD’s Ultra Violent Crimes Unit. Lucien Folter had become the most prolific and dangerous serial killer the FBI had ever encountered.

Now, after spending three and a half years locked in solitary confinement, Lucien has finally managed to break free. And he’s angry.

For the past three and a half years, Lucien has thought of nothing else but vengeance.
The person responsible for locking him away has to pay, he has to suffer.
That person … is Robert Hunter.
And now it is finally time to execute the plan.

My thoughts

My name is Dee-Cee and this is my first Chris Carter book, I feel ashamed and I feel like I have to confess.

Honestly though, in all seriousness yes this is my first Chris Carter book but I’m now very excited as I have a new series to catch up on. Hunting Evil can easily be read as a stand-alone, it is a follow on to book six in the series Evil Mind but that didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the story in the slightest.

Hunting Evil has to have one of the most sadistic, evil and chilling antagonists I’ve ever come across in a book. Lucien Folter, a very clever and intelligent man but evil to the core and he honestly gave me the utter chills, but oh my goodness what a fab character he is. I’m sure I’ll be having nightmares about this man.

Robert Hunter is the man Lucien is after and as this is my first time meeting Robert it was interesting to see how he worked and how he would face and hopefully stop this evil killer. Roberts a great character, I got an idea of what kind of man he is. He’s head of the LAPD’s Ultra Violet Crimes Unit and very determined, i’d really like to start at the beginning of this series and get to know him better, I really liked him.

Chris Carter has written a story here that is so chilling I had so many shivers down my spine I lost count. It’s quite gruesome in places, which I loved but if you’re faint at heart you might want to skip those pages. It’s a totally addictive read with quite short chapters and I loved the way it went back and forward from Robert to Lucien.

It’s difficult to not give anything away about the story as I’d love to tell you about so many bits in this book that had my heart racing, gave me goosebumps and almost reading through my fingers but I don’t want to spoil the exceptional thrill of Hunting Evil for anyone.

I’ll end this by saying the the author has done a fantastic job of writing a gripping and gruesome story that is addictive, chilling and has given me a thirst to read more in this series. Definitely recommended by me.
