The Hidden Wife by Amanda Reynolds blog tour is under way and I’m pleased to be sharing my review today as part of the tour. Thanks to Anne Cater for the invite and Wildfire Books for the gifted ecopy.

About the book

A BRILLIANT NEW PSYCHOLOGICAL DRAMA, FROM THE EBOOK-BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF CLOSE TO ME AND LYING TO YOU

WHAT HAPPENED TO JULIA BLAKE?

She was young and beautiful, married to a famous author. They were celebrating their anniversary at their stunning country estate. So why did Julia Blake walk out of her perfect life, apparently leaving no trace?

Seren, a junior reporter for the local paper, can’t believe her luck when she lands an exclusive with Julia’s husband, Max. But as Seren spends more time at the couple’s remote mansion, probing ever deeper into the case, dark questions await.

What was Julia really like, behind closed doors? Was her marriage to this brooding, secretive man as perfect as it seemed? And did she really mean to disappear that night – or was she murdered?

The Hidden Wife is available to pre-order now and will be available to purchase 31/03 – Amazon

My thoughts

In The Hidden Wife we meet Max, he’s a successful author, he’s rich and has a beautiful wife called Julia. The couple seem to have it all in fact, they seem to be the perfect couple but appearances can be deceiving and when Julia disappears on their 10 year wedding anniversary, Max is the obvious suspect.

Nine months after Julia’s disappearance Max decides to talk, to break his silence, but he will only speak to Seren, a junior reporter for the local paper. Seren is obviously thrilled at the prospect of an exclusive but what truths will she uncover and did Max kill Julia that night?

The Hidden Wife is an intriguing story with very believable characters, it’s so easy to get totally wrapped up in the story and find that time just slips away. I started this one evening planning on only reading a few chapters, just to get a taste for the book before sleep but I ended up halfway through and before I knew it, it was 2am. With short, sharp chapters it’s easy to get lost in completely.

I really wanted to find out what happened to Julia and I had quite a few ideas, as the story progressed these ideas kept changing but I wasn’t prepared for how it would end. It’s a very cleverly written story that keeps you on your toes throughout.

This is the first book I’ve read by Amanda Reynolds and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed every single page, I’ll definitely be looking out for her other books now.

The Hidden Wife is a fast-paced story that is definitely gripping and easy to get totally absorbed in. With characters that come to life and writing that just flows it’s a story you need to make sure you have time read because once you start, you really won’t want to stop.
