From the author of the million-copy bestseller The Girl With All the Gifts comes a heart-stopping psychological thriller with a twist you won’t see coming and a heroine you can’t trust . . .
THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY.
Liz Kendall wouldn’t hurt a fly. Even when times get tough, she’s devoted to bringing up her kids in a loving home.
But there’s another side to Liz, one that’s dark and malicious. She will do anything to get her way – no matter how extreme.
And when her alter-ego takes control, the consequences are devastating.
Someone Like Me is the intoxicating new thriller from the phenomenal M. R. Carey. A modern take on the Jekyll and Hyde tale, think Gone Girl meets Stephen King – but you won’t have read anything quite like this before . . .
Today I’m absolutely over the moon to be sharing my review as part of the blog tour for Someone Like Me by M.R. Carey. Thank you to Tracy Fenton for the opportunity.
How many times can you say you’ve picked up a book, you’ve started reading and thought, hmmm this could be quite good. You get into it and I mean really get into it, nothing else matters, you get so invested in the story and the characters that the world could explode around you and you wouldn’t even notice, you then finish the book and are completely lost for words (unusual for me), it’s like nothing you’ve ever read before? For me I can say that this really doesn’t happen very often and I’m so glad to say that this is definitely one of those books.
We have two female protagonists in this story, Liz who is ex-wife to abusive Marc and mum of two and Fran, a teenager still suffering from the effects after a childhood trauma. Both characters had me totally engrossed in their lives and are both strong likeable characters but there is another character who I particularly liked and that’s Lady Jinx but I wont say anymore as I don’t want to spoil anything.
I’m not going to say anymore about this book apart from its a book that I definitely think is going to be a huge best seller. M.R. Carey has produced a creative and addictive story that will blow your socks off, it’s suspenseful, engrossing and absolutely addictive, a real sleep stealer.
Honestly if you only read one more book this year make it Someone Like Me, you really wont be disappointed. A huge thumbs up from It’s all about the books.
