Today I’m happy to be sharing my review of the new novella My Sweet Friend by H.A. Leuschel. My thanks go to the author for the copy.
A stand-alone novella from the author of Manipulated Lives
A perfect friend … or a perfect impostor?
Alexa is an energetic and charismatic professional and the new member of a Parisian PR company where she quickly befriends her colleagues Rosie and Jack. She brings a much-needed breath of fresh air into the office and ambitiously throws herself into her new job and friendships.
But is Alexa all she claims to be?
As her life intertwines with Rosie and Jack’s, they must all decide what separates truth from fiction. Will the stories that unfold unite or divide them? Can first impressions ever be trusted?
In this original novella, H.A. Leuschel evokes the powerful hold of appearances and what a person is prepared to do to keep up the façade. If you like thought-provoking and compelling reads with intriguing characters, My Sweet Friend is for you.

MY THOUGHTS
Having previously read Manipulated Lives by H. A. Leuschel back in august and really enjoying it I was eager to read My Sweet Friend. I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of novella’s as I really like to read something I can get my teeth into but My Sweet Friend is packed to the brim and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
My Sweet Friend is based on the friendship between Alexa and Rosie, Alexa being the newbie at work, there seems to be a connection between the two and they soon form a friendship.
Alexa is the kind of friend everyone would like, she’s smart, fun, caring and kind. Rosie is working hard and quite skint due to her mum being in a home, so this friendship is a bit of a distraction for her. Told in alternate chapters by Alexa and Rosie we find out that all may not be as it seems when Alexa takes some time off from work.
Leuschel has a fantastic way of drawing the reader into her stories, the characters are well-developed and the setting was stunning.
This being a novella I really don’t want to give too much away. At only 92 pages My Sweet Friend really was packed full to the brim with deceit and lies and was truly thought-provoking. I’m sure each and every one of us has come across someone who is fake and tell’s lies with no remorse what so ever. I know I certainly have and it gives me the shivers.
My Sweet Friend is a definite recommend from It’s all about the books if you are looking for an intriguing and quick read.
