MY REVIEW
Charlotte Evans has so much to look forward to, in eight weeks time she is getting married to the love of her life, Ben, they have bought a house which they are currently doing up, taken out a loan so Charlotte can have her own dance studio and they have a plan. Everything’s looking quite rosy until one afternoon Charlotte and Ben have a quick fumble and Ben finds a lump in one of Charlotte’s breasts. Life is then turned upside down for the couple and Charlotte is set on a path to self discovery.
My heart was in my mouth when Ben found the lump in Charlotte’s breast, I thought I could imagine what was going to happen next but was totally surprised and it really wasn’t what I was expecting.
As the story unfolds, Charlotte makes some decisions. These were decisions I could completely understand her wanting to make but the way she goes about things really made me frustrated. I wanted to jump into the book and give her a good shake and tell her to stop and just wait. Charlotte is a likeable character though and you can’t help feeling huge sympathy for her, she just gets a bit blind-sided and her priorities go out the window a bit.
The Other Life of Charlotte Evans is a fabulous read. It’s a story about families, trust, love and friendship. It’s a story about finding out who you really are and about how easily life can be turned upside down. Louisa George has written a story that is filled with love and the relationship between Charlotte and her mum and her best friend have been wonderfully portrayed. This really is a cracker of a story and one I will definitely recommend.
