Synopsis – Detective Inspector Helen Grace has spent her whole life running.
From the past. From herself. From everyone who’s ever tried to get close to her.
She’s spent her whole life hiding.
Behind the badge. Behind her reputation as one of the country’s best detectives. Until – framed for murder – she became one of its most high-profile prisoners.
Now there is nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide.
Because HMP Holloway is a place of dark days and long nights with dangers at every turn. Despised by the inmates and reviled by the guards, Helen must face her nightmare alone.
And then a carefully mutilated body is found in a locked cell.
Now Helen must find a ruthless serial killer. Before the killer finds her.

My thoughts – After the cliff hanger we were left with in Little Boy Blue I was desperate to get reading Hide and Seek to see where the story would take us and boy did that story take us on a roller coaster ride.
Hide and Seek is book number six in the series and you really have to read the previous books to know properly what is happening, the characters back stories and how Helen has come to be where she is. M.J. Arlidge is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and really knows how to write a story with great characters. Helen is a brilliant detective but in Hide and Seek we see a different side to her, She’s still strong and determined but she’s also very vulnerable and I liked seeing this different side to her.
I’m not going to go into the plot and dissect it as I really don’t want to give any spoilers away, however I will say I think this is probably my favourite out of the series. It’s fast paced, nail biting, breath taking and just damn right brilliant. Roll on the next Helen Grace book.
My rating 5/5
Many thanks go to Michael Joseph and Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.
