My thoughts – First of all I would like to say a huge thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. As always when I’m asked to read a book I feel a bit nervous, what if I don’t like it? how do I tell the author their book wasn’t for me? I really needn’t have worried where The Madam was concerned, from page one I was hooked and read it in a day.
As the description says Lizzie has been jailed for a crime she didn’t commit and we join Lizzie and her cell mate/lover Scar near the end of her sentence. I took to both characters well, Lizzie is feisty and a few times through the book I could have screamed at her to slow down but then it wouldn’t have been the same if she had. Scar was more of a head screwed on kind of girl and you tell she deeply cared for Lizzie and they both worked well together.
This was quite a fast paced book and the author has done a fab job of making it realistic. I couldn’t believe it when I came to the end as I was so taken in by the story. With twists and turns, this book is full of emotions too and I was on the edge of my seat at some points while reading. A totally gripping read with characters that you find you care about and really want justice to be done. I’ll be highly recommending this book. Brilliant.
